Germany: health insurance offices are opposed to the health care reform

German health insurance offices want to launch a campaign against the government's health care reform. According to them, the bill presented at the beginning of July will involve an increase in administrative procedures which could deteriorate the services provided to patients. (Réf. 06771)

Outraged by these criticisms, the ministry for Health threatened to bring the offices to court if they do not end their “declarations of propaganda”. The reform envisages an increase in health care contributions for the general system (+ 0.5 % in 2007) and a new financing via taxes to finance the health insurance of children, starting in 2008.
