After months fighting, including three days of strike, Lufthansa, the German airline, and the Ufo aircrew union announced, on November 13, that they had signed a collective agreement based on a draft compromise drawn up by mediator Bert Rurüp. This highly complicated compromise provides for an average 3.95 percent wage increase on January 1, 2013 for Lufthansa's 18,000 flight attendants as well as employment guarantee until December 2014. In return, the union has accepted flexible working and a different pay scale for the company's future flight attendants. This collective agreement will expire on December 31, 2014 and still needs to be ratified by Ufo members, who will vote by December 10. (Ref. 120667)
