Germany: metallurgy employers in the northern region set up their own employment website

With Germany facing a shortage of skilled manpower, metallurgy and electro-technical employers in the north of the country have decided to take the situation into their own hands and have set up their own online employment website. Called ‘Zukunftspool.me’ (Futurepool), this landmark platform is available for businesses that are members of the Nordmetall and AGV Nord employers’ bodies and will operate along the principle that when a company receives several suitable applications for an apprenticeship vacancy then, with the candidates’ consent, it will post the profiles of the unsuccessful candidates on the new platform so that the other member companies can view them. The system will work in a similar fashion when companies have to reduce their headcount numbers. The site is already up and running with business groups such as Airbus already using it.
