Germany: trade union confederation DGB wants to strongly reduce manual workers’ salaries

Is the German trade confederation DGB -and its eight trade unions members, which employ about 11 000 employees- the best employer in Germany or « the worst of the capitalists »? Information published by the weekly Der Spiegel (11.11) has revived the controversy. (Ref 061163)

According to the news magazine, management of the DGB training centre (DGB Bildungswerk), which has different establishments (hotels, meeting rooms), intends to cut by 18 % in three years the salaries of the staff employed in these establishments.
