The government has submitted to Parliament, on Friday July 21, its long-expected bill on fatal accidents at work. The text, called "Corporate manslaughter and corporate homicide Bill", introduces an indictment charge for "company manslaughter", which will apply to England, Wales and Scotland. (Réf. 06753)
The law makes companies responsible for the deaths which have occurred following failures of duties and security instructions. It applies to companies and public organizations (not the Crown) and introduces the principle of unlimited fine if it is proven that the death was caused by serious failures of top executives.
