The British pension regulator elaborated a guide for trustees of defined benefits pension schemes confronted to the risk to see a member company's obligations or guarantees diminish, following a legal modification or a commercial operation. The guide distinguishes between different situations which can lead to an abandonment, total or partial, of the pension scheme from a member company, following a legal transformation, a rapprochement operation, reorganizations, and for which the trustees are invited to be cautious.
