Great Britain: a new organization to fight the unemployment of ethnic minorities

The government announced on July 11, within the framework of its social agenda (Welfare reform agenda), the creation of a new independent and advisory organization aimed at following and promoting the integration of ethnic minorities on the labour market. (Réf. 06713)

The activity ratio of ethnic minorities (8% of the population, divided into 11 groups, mainly Indians, Caribbean, Pakistanis, Africans and Bengalis) does not exceed 59.2%, whereas the national rate, the best in Europe, is 74.8%. Colored people have twice more chances than the White to be unemployed, and 50% more chances than the total average (all origins).

There is already a Commission on racial equality, (chaired by Trevor Philips), but this new institution, the Ethnic Minority Advisory Group
