On 29 October 2015 measures in the Modern Slavery Law concerning the requirement for transparency along supply chains came into force. Any commercial organisation, including those established outside the UK, that carries on a business, or part of a business, in the UK and has an annual turnover of £36m or more (either singly or in combination with subsidiaries’ revenues) must produce a statement setting out the steps they have taken to ensure there is no modern slavery, forced labor, or human trafficking in their own business and their supply chains across the globe. Legislators clearly want the scope of the law to extend beyond the UK’s borders, which will, as a result, also impact foreign multinational businesses. The UK government has made available its practical guide designed for businesses that details the new practical arrangements.
You can access the online document from the UK government link here or in the document attached.
