After a long public debate and a few amendments in Parliament, Great Britain acquired a law which strengthens the criminal responsibility of companies of which the negligence or failings in management led to the death of an employee. This law, which will come into effect on April 6, 2008, was deemed insufficient by trade unions, who demand the addition of managers' criminal responsibility when they do not properly guarantee security on the workplace. This law goes much further beyond the workplace perimeter and enables to bring before the penal court organizations depending from the British Crown, such as Ministries, which are now put on the same level as private companies.
