Great Britain: decline in illnesses and accidents at work

The Health and Safety Executive has just published statistics concerning industrial accidents and sick leaves, which declined in 2005-2006. These results, coming in the middle of a 10-year plan aiming at having danger at work dropping, are deemed promising. (Ref. 061114)

Illnesses. two million people are currently affected with illnesses caused or made worse by their job, present or past. This year, 523,000 new cases have been declared. Three quarters of these illnesses are musculoskeletal problems – essentially members and the back – and also stress, depression and anxiety.
