Great Britain: Nanjing Automobile’s projects for Longbridge below trade unions’ expectations

The Chinese group Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC), new owner of Rover, the British make in bankruptcy, announced on Monday July 17 its intention to invest 10 million Pounds (14,5 million euros) on the site of Longbridge. Trade unions were strongly disappointed, having hoped for more than 1 000 new jobs on this site. (Ref. 06732)

NAC’s projects for Rover. Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC) will carry out an “initial” investment of 10 million Pounds (14,5 million Euros) on the Longbridge site, near Birmingham, which had closed when Rover had gone bankrupt in mid-April 2005. 80 people already work in the Longbridge factory, and NAC announced that new employees will be recruited, without specifying the numbers.
