Great Britain: new minimum wage rate for adults and apprentices as of October 1, 2012

Minimum wage.  The independent Low Pay Commission (LPC), a statutory body whose role is to advise the Government on the National Minimum Wage, gave the government its 13th report on February 15.  The government accepted the Commission’s recommendations.  Thus, minimum wage for adults will increase by 11 pence to £6.19 (€7.46) an hour.  For apprentices, it will increase by 5p to £2.65 (€3.19) an hour.  However, the rate remains unchanged for 18-20 year olds (£4.98 - €6) an hour, and for 16-17 year olds (£3.68 - €4.44) an hour.
