Great Britain: one more step to the creation of a huge union of almost two million members

The perspective of a fusion between the union groups Amicus (over a million members in the private and public manufacturing sector) and TGWU (mainly transportation) is coming closer after TGWU's managers unanimously agreed on the rally principle on Wednesday, November 22. The 800,000 subscribers now have to speak out in a referendum that should be over by the end of the year. A conference will then take place to make the consultation's outcome official. In case the yes camp wins, the new union should uprise in May 2007, even if structures will not be totally integrated until 2012. (Ref. 061182)
