The seven contracting companies are Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBES), NG Bailey Building Services, Crown House Technologies, Gratte Brothers, SPIE Matthew Hall, Shepherd Engineering Services and T. Clarke. They intend to leave the longstanding Joint Industry Board which determines wages and conditions for those working in electrical contracting and establish their own wage rates and forms of bargaining (see our dispatch No.  110534). Pay cuts of up to 35% are believed to result for many from this move.
