Great Britain: Tony Blair wishes to modify the legislation in favour of asbestos victims

Following a recent judgement in appeal, unfavourable to victims and widows of asbestos, the Prime Minister announced his intention to amend the Compensation Bill in order to thwart the risk of decreasing allowances in the future. (Ref. 06650)

Indeed, the solution of a recent judgment of the House of Lords in the Barker case challenged the law of 2002 which considered the employer 100% responsible, even in the event of exposure by negligence, and even if the victim had also worked elsewhere, without being able to determine clearly where it had contracted mesothelioma, the cancer of asbestos.
