Great Britain: trade unions launch a parliamentary campaign in favour of a law for temporary workers

One month before the examination in second reading of a law in favour of temporary workers, trade unions are pressing the members of Parliament to gather the 100 signatures necessary to the progression of the text, presented individually by the Labour MP of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Paul Farrelly. This bill, Temporary Agency Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Bill, aims at giving to temporary and occasional employees the same rights as permanent employees as regards wages, sickness leaves and paid-leaves. It is supported, inter alia, by the trade unions Amicus (industry), T&G (transportation), Unison (public sector), GMB (transportation), CWU (postal services and telephony) and UCATT (construction).
