Hellas Online, one of the key internet and telecom providers in Greece, has decided to outsource some of its activities to focus on its core business. This strategy affects nearly 60 percent of its staff, i.e. customer service and retail sales. On Wednesday morning, 460 Hellas Online (HOL) employees learned, when they got to work, that they were fired immediately. To this day, 452 people have accepted the transfer. (Ref. 130822)
According to SETIP, the computing and telecom workers’ union, on Tuesday night last week, at approximately 2:30 am, HOL moved the offices. When they got to work on Wednesday morning, 460 employees were asked to sign a resignation letter. In return, HOL offered them new individual contracts with”360 Connect AE,” a company where they will do the same tasks, for HOL.
