Two years after taking up power, India’s current center-right-wing BJP (nationalist Hindu Bharativa Janata Party) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) still hasn’t delivered on its labor legislation reform promise to the business world. In the face of opposition from several sources (political opposition, trade unions, public opinion) the government has oscillated between both conciliatory and authoritarian stances, and most recently has announced its aim to reintroduce its labor law reform project in a July session of parliament.
