Recently, in 2 large multinational firms - Fiat-Chrysler and Petrobras - global union alliances have committed, at the end of their annual meeting, to making databases to have the possibility of exchanging and comparing collective agreements in the groups’ different sites. International unions believe these databases are a key tool to develop their collective bargaining action.
It’s not the first time global union networks have made such commitments but experience has shown that implementation wasn’t easy. Yet, significant progress was made. At European level, for several years, IndustriAll Europe has been building the eurob@ network on collective bargaining. The European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) is currently looking at mapping tools.
