International: trade union FNV inspects working conditions in the Chinese factories of Dutch multinationals

The Dutch trade union FNV Bondgenoten (industry, private services, transport and agro-alimentary) published a report on the working conditions in the Chinese factories of three multinational corporations (Philips, Unilever and Akzo Nobel). The assessment drawn up by the report is overall positive, taking into account the Chinese standards, but there is a problem : the non-respect of health and safety at work. (Ref. 070103)

The representatives of the trade union FNV Bondgenoten visited, last October, several production sites of Dutch multinationals : Philips (electric household appliances, lighting and electronics), Unilever (foodstuff, upkeeping product, cosmetics) and Akzo Nobel (chemistry, pharmaceutical and coatings). The report is based mainly on the observations of the representatives of the FNV and on the declarations of the local management of these factories.
