Istat CEO Enrico Giovanni presented the latest annual report on May 22, explaining this ‘rough patch’ for the country’s economy. Unlike last year (see our dispatch No. 110379), he says that Italian people have become “tragically aware” of the ‘vulnerability’ of the country, made even worse by the crisis, and because of which, in 2011, “decisional procedures with little precedent multiplied.” He also warned about the state of the Institute, saying that its budget was 50 percent lower than in France for instance and that the resources allotted for 2013 would “not be enough to run the institution.”
