The Commission monitoring application of the strike act in essential public services issued its 2012 activity report. Set up by Act No. 145/1990, this “independent administration” is made up of 8 members (experts in the field of constitutional law, labor law, industrial relations) appointed by the Presidents of the two houses of Parliament. Responsible for guaranteeing balance between citizens’ right to strike and constitutional rights, it has the power to mediate between conflicting parties and to sanction illegal behaviors. Its annual report lists interventions and analyzes the evolution of conflicts in the sectors concerned (transportation, energy, post…). (Ref. 130461)
