Following a series of scandals that have hit several of Italy’s banking institutions, negotiations commenced between the employers’ body ABI (Associazione Bancaria Italiana) and the sector’s unions in a bid to secure, inter alia, a code of ethics for the responsible selling of financial products to the general public.
The first meeting was held on 20 June and set the scene for discussions on employee training and professionalism, responsibilities (including criminal responsibility), sales polices, whistleblowers, variable remuneration systems, and working organization.
