Italy: draft agreements for renewing oil-energy and electricity sectors collective agreements

On 25 January, following more than a year of negotiations, the social partners in both the oil-energy and the electricity sectors secured draft agreements to renew their respective collective agreements that will affect a total of 90,000 workers and cover the period between 2016 and 2018. Salary increases will result in an extra €97 being paid in the oil-energy sector and €107 in the electricity sector. The texts will now be put to the respective workers. They both contain commonalities and in particular a method for incorporating inflation effects. The social partners, who are also considering appropriate strategies as regards their sector’s challenges, are looking to the possibility of a common collective agreement for 2019.
