On 18 May, Italy’s employers’ body, Confinindustria, together with the unions, Cgil, Cisl, and Uil signed a final agreement that sets rules over apprentice remuneration, which is a new provision put in place within the framework of the Jobs Act labor market reform.
This agreement makes all the changes over dual apprenticeship effective that relate to the Job Act’s reform to employment contracts (Legislative Decree 81/2015). The agreement sets the implementation framework for the new dual apprenticeship system that boosts the ‘education’ segment, although initial trials were started in January 2016. Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has made the dual apprenticeship system for 15 – 29 year olds one of the key elements in the battle against youth unemployment.
