Italy: insurance sector renews national collective agreement

Insurance unions (Fiba-Cisl, Fisac-CGIL, FNA, SNFIA and UILCA) and the Ania employers’ organization reached an agreement, on March 7, renewing the sector’s national collective agreement, which expired in 2009.  This agreement puts an end to “long, exhausting negotiations” punctuated by numerous protest movements.  Unions point out that the “gradual deterioration of the economic situation” because of the crisis made the employers’ organization harsher.  They claim employers wanted to review the rules governing restructurings, sickness, working time, interchangeability and flexibility in call centers.  In the end, the text doesn’t amend anything from the previous collective agreement.
