On 29 October and almost as the same time as France (c.f. article No.12768), Italy definitively ratified ILO Convention No.190 2019 (Violence and Harassment Convention). During the ceremony held in Rome, Labour Minister Andrea Orlando emphasised that “the convention represents a significant step forward for a healthy and safe, inclusive world of work,” including for the most vulnerable as well as from a gender perspective. In January 2021 the Italian Parliament definitively adopted the law that transposes ILO Convention No. 190 and Recommendation No. 206 into national legislation. This law, authorizing Italy’s President to officially ratify the ILO convention, has been in force since 27 January 2021. Italy is now one of ten countries to have ratified the ILO text, along with France and Greece in Europe, and Argentina, Ecuador, Fiji, Mauritius Namibia, Somalia, and Uruguay.
