Italy: social partners from banking sector renewed their collective agreement for three years

Social partners from the banking sector (Associazione Bancaria Italiana – ABI for employers and the Dircredito, Fabi, Falcri, Fiba, Fisac, Silcea, Sinfub, Ugl, Uilca unions) signed, on December 8, 2007, an agreement on renewal of their national collective agreement. It notably plans the possibility to negotiate collective agreements at group level, new equal opportunities policies and the improvement of apprentices' working conditions. (Ref. 071021)

Unions are satisfied with the renewal of the collective agreement which covers about 340.000 employees in 793 banks and 87 Italian banking groups. Signatory parties highlighted the “constructive industrial relations” tradition in the banking sector. Fabio Innocenzi, leader of the employers’ delegation, declared that this agreement “brings forward the parties’ ability to discuss, after tight conflict but without a single hour of strike. We think that this renewal, which covers a five-year period
