Japan: employees laid off ‘unfairly’ can opt for financial compensation
The Japanese government has just announced that employees subjected to unfair dismissal would soon be able to opt for financial compensation instead of taking up their former job. For the authorities this system of financial compensation is to “give employers and employees more options for diplomatically resolving problems arising from dismissals that are recognized before the courts as being unfair.
