Latvia : government to implement social integration strategy

From 2006 till 2008, Latvian government plans to realize some efforts to facilitate the social integration especially for the population of moderate means. This includes children and young people who live under risk of poverty, large families with only one of parents and pensioners. There will be several measures including guaranties for mortgage loans and increasing amount of social relief. (Réf. 06805)

State loan guaranties. For families with children there will be state guaranties for loans. People could get back interest payments through preferences of income taxes. There are plans to increase children relief and create a new kind of allowance to help parents to arrange the school for children.

Lower untaxed salary. For all working people the untaxed minimum of salary will be increased from 37 to 71 euros in the year 2008. The preferential rate for dependant person will increase from 17 euro
