Luxembourg : bill on adapting the directive on information and consultation of workers

Having failed to make a comprehensive reform of worker representation in companies which would have allowed the adaptation within a reasonable period of directive 2002/14 of March 11, 2002 establishing a general framework for informing and consulting employees in the European Community, the government has decided to table a bill for the adoption of the directive in the limits of Luxembourg legislation. This was scheduled to be done before March 23, 2005. The government stresses the urgency to adopt this text as Luxembourg is now exposed to the accusation of “failure to implement”. The bill modifies the Labour Code which came into effect on September 1. 2006 (v. dispatch n° 06839).
