The Council of the Government adopted, on October 19, 2007, a bill on the free movement of persons and immigration which specially amends some provisions of the Labour Code and repeals the law of March 28, 1972 on foreigners' entry and stay. This text, which aims at "establishing a global concept including all aspects of immigration while going beyond simple management of migratory flux", implements a series of European directives. Concerning EU citizens, they are granted a right to move and stay freely in Luxembourg according to the directive 2004/38 of April 29, 2004 concerning the rights of EU citizens and their family members to move and reside freely within the terrotory of the Member States.
