Several recent studies show that Mexico is becoming more competitive than China as far as labor cost is concerned. Ten years ago, Mexican wages were still 3 times higher than in China in the manufacturing industry. Now, the trend has reversed and, if confirmed, in 2015, labor cost will be 30 percent higher in China. At the same time, Mexican employers point to a recent decline in the employment market. Chinese workers are 20 percent, soon 30 percent more expensive than Mexican workers. While pay keeps increasing in China, it is at a standstill in the Aztec nation.
