The proposal comes from the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD, conservative), from Democrats 66 (centre right) and the Labour Party (PVDA, Labour). It is defended by Aart Jan de Geus, the Minister for Social Affairs and Employment, who thinks that this is an “equal distribution of the duties between parents”.
