Netherlands : agreement on social plan at Hewlett Packard

An agreement of principle has been found, on 19 December 2006, on the new social plan at Hewlett Packard (HP). The American multinational company, which employs 2500 people in the Netherlands, has announced a restructuring in 2007. The new accord improves that which was negotiated in 2005 during the previous restructuring conducted in the Netherlands. (Ref.070023).

An agreement has been found between trade unions and management after the negotiation of an advantageous clause for employees: any employee laid of by HP and who hasn’t found an equivalent salary elsewhere will earn up to 20% of his former salary, paid by HP, during six months. In the previous social plan, this rate did not exceed 15%.
