Netherlands: agreement on the restructuring of Nedcar

Confronted to trade unions' protests, Nedcar, owned at 100% by the Japanese group Mitsubishi, has reached an agreement on the restructuring : no dismissal will take place before April 2007. (Ref. 06670)

On June 29, the Federation of the Dutch and Allied trade unions (FNV Bondgenoten) submitted to the 3 000 Nedcar employees a voluntary departure program. Furthermore, Mitsubishi is trying to answer the demands of trade unions and the Dutch government, by giving new prospects to Nedcar. The manufacturer announced on June 23 its intention to continue the production of Colt models in the Netherlands. These would then be exported to Mexico and Latin America.
