Netherlands: Alcatel-Lucent’s unions are thinking of calling for strike

The Dutch union federation (FNV) asked Alcatel-Lucent's management for urgent explanations on the consequences of the large redundancy plan – announced on February 9 – on the Netherlands. The union contacted the group's European works council in order to come up with a common strategy. (Ref 070132)

The Alcatel-Lucent group announced the suppression, spread on three years, of 12,500 jobs, because of bad financial results. In Alcatel-Lucent’s two Dutch factories, located at Hilversum and Rijswijk, reorganizations from previous years already triggered hundreds of jobs lost.
