Influential agreement.  Fellesforbundet is the most important private sector union in the LO confederation with about 151,000 members.  This is why the Norsk Industri employers’ organization is relieved because the planned strike concerned 29,000 members from at least 800 workplaces.  The scope of this agreement is important since, as in Sweden, the theory is that wage levels determined in the industry, in the name of profitability and competition, then become the standard for other agreements – public or private.  Another novelty is that, for the first time, the negotiations also included other sectors: textile (TEKO), cable and infrastructures (Nexans), and technology and computing (Technologi og data), in order to merger previous agreements.
