Norway: new banking agreement avoids strike

Grounds for the strike notice.  Considering that employers didn’t really want to negotiate, Finansforbundet issued a strike notice starting on June 7th.  With about 38,000 members, the union was banking on banking and payment center employees to stop working.  All banks in the country were concerned by the strike notice except those affiliated with the employers’ organization such as SEB, Verdibanken, Cultura Saprebank, Citibank (Norwegian subsidiary) and Swedebank Norge.  The risk was that most banks and payment centers would close, paralyzing credit card use for daily purchases (bread, milk…)
