On 17 May 2019, Poland’s Senate adopted a series of amendments to the Labor Code, presented to parliament by the President of the Republic. The new employee-friendly provisions address definitions covering discrimination, the rights of employees who have been subjected to harassment, and specific protection from employment termination for older employees.
Some of the draft modifications have been developed by the office of President following several citizens’ complaints over problems in being able to fully exercise their rights. Others, such as employment protection for older employees ensure legislation is compliant with a Constitutional Court ruling.
