Poland : government seeking for a solution for the health care crisis

Every day there are at least several dozens of hospital strikes and doctors' protests across the country. What is more, underpaid specialists leave Polish clinics, searching for better salaries in the West. Doctors from Silesia may start a general strike any day. It is only suspended. (Réf. 06721)

After protests of medical staff since February in the whole country the government promised to give doctors and nurses 30 per cent pay rise this year, and another rise in 2007, but medical workers demand much more. The temporary agreement was reached by the trade unions with the Minister of health, Zbigniew Religa, a world-famous cardiologist in June.
