Poland: new program for youth employment

Goals.  According to Eurostat figures, at the end of December 2011, youth unemployment rate in Poland amounted to 27.7 percent, a 3.4 percent increase for 2011.  Polish authorities revealed that, at the end of November 2011, 4 in 10 jobseekers were under 30, i.e. 38 percent of all jobseekers.  After a detailed analysis of the reasons for youth unemployment (lack of professional experience, initial training unsuitable for labor market needs, mobility restricted by transportation costs, real estate prices and poorly developed rental market), the government launched a program called “Youth and the Labor Market” for people under the age of 30.  The key objective of this program is to support young jobseekers via the following actions:
