On January 01, 2015 the minimum wage in Romania rose by 17 euros and will rise by a further 17 euros on June 01, 2015. These increases come at a time of favorable economic growth. GDP for 2014 is estimated at 3%.
The net minimum wage in Romania went from 203 euros on December 31, 2014 to 220 euros on January 01, 2015, making an hourly rise of 1.1 euros. Going forward businesses will have to pay 270 euros per month to take on staff at the lowest legal pay grade. Fines for non-respect of this will be levied at between 225 and 550 euros. This January rise in the minimum wage will be followed by a similar amount for the second half of 2015. On June 01, 2015 the minimum wage will rise by 17 euros to 237 eur
