Slovenia : law to ease Sundays shop openings passed

Changes of the law impose that, when setting the working hours, trader needs to consider the number of employees in the store and their rights, obligations and responsibilities from the labour relation determined by the law that handles labour relations and collective agreement. Before these law changes, only few food stores were allowed to be opened on Sundays.

nsferred the decision on Sunday opening hours for all shops to the sectoral collective agreement, which has already been signed by the retailers and trade unions. This agreement, reached in October, grants a 100 percent compensation for working on Sundays and holidays. For working on some of the special holidays (1 January, 1 May, 1 November, 25 December and Easter Sunday) workers will receive 200 percent compensation.
