Spain: employers and trade unions agree on wage moderation and a framework for collective bargaining in 2007

The main employers' and trade-union organizations signed, on Thursday January 25th, a preliminary cross-industry agreement on collective bargaining 2007 (ANC 2007). According to the text signed by CEOE-Pymes for employers and UGT and CCOO for trade unions, the social partners will observe wage moderation. The wage increase recommended for company negotiations is 2%, that is to say the inflation planned for 2007 and the corrective measure of the year 2006, which is 0.7%. The agreement also proposes some subjects with the negotiators such as the integration of disabled people or rules for telecommuting. (Ref. 070078)

The text of 61 pages must still be ratified by the management structures of the various signatory organizations and be officially sealed on next 6 February. This is the 6th consecutive year in which the social partners conclude an agreement of this type which will affect 10 million people, that is to say half of the Spanish employees whose working conditions are defined by this framework agreement.
