The airline is getting ready to put an end to more than 16 months of social dispute, after signing a series of agreements in principle with unions representing different categories of staff in order to improve the company’s productivity. The latest, announced on Friday, March 14, was signed with the ground staff unions that accept a reorganization of labor and a 7 percent pay cut. In return, employees secured the guarantee that maintenance and handling activities will continue in the company until the end of 2015. A few weeks before them, pilots and cabin crew signed similar agreements aiming to improve personnel productivity.
The end of a long conflict. The horizon is looking brighter for Iberia, after negotiating a series of agreements with groups of employees – pilots, flight attendants and ground staff. Valid until December 31, 2017, these agreements should help with the implementation of the company’s transformation plan and, according to the management, lead to profitability, as early as this year, after 6 years of losses.
