After a period of spinelessness, Spain has decided to establish a policy based on cooperation between the labor inspectorate and justice, to force firms to apply the legislation in force and to really prevent risks. Coordination between public prosecutor and labor inspectorate. Prosecutors and government inspectors have agreed to toughen criminal prosecution when it comes to workers’ health and safety. The creation last spring of a new public prosecutor in charge of coordinating the action of the public prosecutor’s office was the beginning of this process (see articles n°06503 and 06885).
