Spain: Leroy Merlin forced to observe the weekly rest period of 48 successive hours

Leroy Merlin is required to apply the right to a weekly rest of 48 continuous hours for its employees. Other wholesale chains are also being challenged by judges for the same problem. (Ref. 061079)

Two days of successive rest each week. Justice ordered Leroy Merlin to respect the obligation to give each employee 36 hours of weekly rest per week added to the 12 hours which have to separate two working days, amounting to 48 hours in total. Until now Leroy Merlin considered that the daily rest period was included in the 36 hours. An employee was therefore entitled to only one and a half days of successive rest a week.
