Spain: Madrid factory inspectors track the employers who abuse of temporary contracts

The factory inspectorate has launched a campaign to fight the abuses involving temporary employment contracts in the Madrid area. Starting July 1st, 123 companies, which are the most likely to violate the law, should be visited. After the recent reform of the labour law negotiated between social partners (see our article n° 06472), this local campaign shows there is a will to fight, at all levels, against job precariousness. According to information communicated by the regional employment councilor of Madrid, Juan Güemes, the companies concerned all have a rate of temporary employment of at least 40% and have signed at least 5 contracts with one same worker during the last 12 months. Within the framework of a similar campaign which has just ended, 600 companies of more than 20 employees, located in the Madrid are, have been visited by the factory inspectorate.
