Spain: Ministry for Employment to launch training programs for immigrant workers in their country of origin

The Ministry for Employment plans to create programs to train workers in their country of origin, with a « promise of appointment » in Spain among the sectors which are currently experiencing labor shortages : care services, building trade and major retailers. (Ref 061177)

This announcement confirms the government’s will to bet on selected and organized immigration. It answers a complaint made by employers’ representatives, who say they lack sufficiently skilled labor to fill the vacant positions. This initiative should be implemented jointly by the administration, the employers and trade unions, with the promise of a contract upon arrival in Spain.
